How to Draw Harriet Tubman
Celebrate International Women's Month by learning how to draw one of the great women in history, Harriet Tubman. This drawing tutorial might be for a slightly older audience but it's still easy to follow with its prompts, arrows and direction of drawing basic shapes. Take the time to teach yourself or your little ones the amazing history of Ms. Tubman! She was born into slavery and became an abolitionist and political activist. She is known for operating the Underground Railroad; a network of antislavery activists and safe houses. She is credited for leading hundreds into freedom. As a child she experienced trauma to the help. With poor medical treatment given, she was never allowed proper care to recover and experienced epilepsy in her life. So, we will draw facial lines to show the age of Harriet and learn to color her face paying attention to gradation and shading while appreciating that every wrinkle drawn in, was a wrinkle well earned! She's not only responsible for leading hundreds out of slavery but also worked as a spy during the Civil War. Photographs often show Harriet wearing a head scarf, so I've add one here as well. Be creative with your background. Remember to make the 'dark darker and the light lighter" to help make your drawing pop! If you decide not to use color, practice your pencil pressure and create multiple shades as well. Thanks so much for watching! Finished artwork is always appreciated when it's shared. Tag Tupperberry Art so I can see your practice at creativity!
